How to save money with DIY: 3 easy recipes

Preparing DIY products is not only fun but can help us also to save money. I tried to prove it, preparing 3 cool things that everyone can make at home to save money. In this post, I will show you 3 easy DIY beauty recipes using only 4-5 ingredients that all of us have in our pantry. What we can make it? Keep reading:)

DIY beauty recipes to save money

#1 Coffee Body Scrub

This is an easy recipe that requires only 3 ingredients:

  • olive oil
  • coffee powder (used one works just fine)
  • honey

This scrub was suggested to me by a friend. I decided to reproduce it at home and with only 3 ingredients and 5 minutes, I prepared my Coffee body scrub. I used it under the shower for the entire body but also as a face scrub! After using it, the skin looked bright, hydrated, and soft! Awesome! So why do we have to spend so much money on a commercial scrub when it’s possible to make a better one at home??

Coffee Body Scrub | How to make it

  1. pour 2 teaspoons of olive oil in a jar (better if it’s an old recycled jar);
  2. add 3-4 teaspoons of coffee powder and mix the two ingredients;
  3. add a teaspoon of honey and mix them again;
  4. finally, reach the consistency that you prefer. You could either add more coffee if you want a granular scrub, or more oil if you prefer it more liquid.

I recommend preparing this scrub as a single-use and avoid long storage. Keep it away from water. The presence of water in the jar can help the growth of microorganisms/bacterias in our scrub in the long term.  So, to be totally sure, just prepare it 5 minutes before the shower and only for the quantity that you need. Problem solved!

#2 Sugar Lip Scrub

This recipe is easier than the body scrub and requires only two ingredients and half of the time (2 minutes only).

  • olive oil
  • sugar

Sugar Lip Scrub |Preparation

  1. pour 2 teaspoons of sugar in a jar;
  2. add slowly olive oil mixing the two ingredients;
  3. keep adding oil till you reach the desired consistency. I prefer granular scrub as shown in fig. 3, but this is completely up to you.

If the smell of olive oil is not your favorite, you can either add a food fragrance or replace olive oil with jojoba or argan oil.

#3 Natural deo

This is one of my favorite recipes. It’s already a year that I’m producing and using my own deo and I definitely like it. It’s easy to prepare, it’s healthy and it will save you money.

  2. add 2 teaspoons of rice starch;
  3. mix the powders;
  4. add coconut oil;
  5. mix vigorously the ingredients

Now the deo is ready to be used.

I prefer not to add any further fragrance because for me it is enough the one from coconut oil. Of course, you can add the fragrance that you like the most and customize your Deo.
